Since 1977, the Community Development Division has provided technical assistance and staff support to local governments in the region in the application and administration of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.
Working closely with local governments, economic development organizations, businesses and citizens, Upper Savannah’s Economic Development Division supports the development and implementation of projects that create permanent jobs and stimulate private sector investment.
The Upper Savannah Council of Governments is committed to developing an efficient, multi-modal transportation system which will increase the mobility of people and goods within the Upper Savannah Region.
The Upper Savannah region includes six counties: Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick and Saluda. Upper Savannah serves as the umbrella administrative organization for regional activities, has city and county government representation and works closely with local, state and federal government agencies.
